DVIII Goal Differential Directive amendment : ( No 7-Goal Differential Directive ) After consulting with some of our DVIII B.O.D., Bob Asklof and some of our veteran coaches ( coaches who have been coaching 15 or more years in DVIII ) - Beginning the resumption of league play for DOL & Kaercher, 10/1/05 we will change to a No 7-Goal Differential Directive. Thanks everyone for working with me these past 2 weeks to see which Goal differential directive will best suit the Technical and Tactical learning curb for our kids here in DVIII. This goal differential directive would accomplish teaching our teams to play with a balanced and intelligent attacking & defending game. ( acceptable score will be 6-0, 7-1, 8-2, 9-3 ….etc, etc. )
So again, beginning Oct. 1, for the DOL & Kaercher League, WE will be changing to and will be following a No 7-Goal Differential Directive. Ergo, no team or teams in DOL or Kaercher League can beat another team by more than 6 goals.
Again, “ Just a final friendly reminder, don’t beat the other team by more than 6 goals “ !!!!
Here are just some few Technical and Tactical exercises and suggestions that a team can do when they’re 2 to 3 goals up in the match. 1) Go to a 2 or 3 touch play. This will give players a chance to work on their first touch. 2) Rest your starters and give all the subs playing time. 3) Work on your team’s possession game. This will improve your teams passing game and collection techniques. 4) Work on "Patterns of Attack” from the Defensive 3rd to the Mid 3rd, from the mid 3rd to the attacking 3rd. 5) Work on cut back crosses and players can only use headers inside the18. This will give your players lots of practice in redirecting balls towards and inside the goal frame. This will also help build up the confidence of the opposing Gk’s for future games against stronger teams like yours. Remember someday in District teams and ODP teams this goalkeeper might be your teammate. 6) Work on switching the play left to right from the back, in the middle 3rd or in the attacking 3rd. 7) Work on a different “ Systems of Play “. If you normally play using 4-4-2, practice a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 SOP. A good team needs to be able to adjust to several SOP anyway to match up with other team’s strength. 8) Work on your teams Defensive and Attacking tendencies. 9) Work on your players alternate positions on the team. See how your defenders can handle playing midfield. Can your forwards defend if they need to? Play them in the back. A good player needs to be comfortable playing in at least 2 positions for their team. 10) If a player is dominantly right-footed have them touch the ball more with their left foot and visa versa with the dominantly left-footed players. 11) Work on overlap plays, check how good your players attack the other teams weak side. 12) Work on your teams visual cue recognition. ( ie: when a back pass is made, do your players automatically start moving and start attacking spaces to receive long or short passes ) 13) Work on pass-back plays to the Goalkeeper. This will give the Gk plenty of practice in switching fields and recognizing attacking zones. This will improve your GK’s footwork and accurate ball distribution as well. 14) I can go on and on with suggestions, however if you don’t want to disrupt team play by switching players around, simply remove one or two of your forwards and turn your inside or outside wing midfielder into attacking players.
Call me if any of you have any questions on what I’ve suggested and listed above. Let’s make soccer a great experience for all “ INCLUDING “ the opposing team.
Have a great day everyone. Keep our Dist. DVIII Kids “ PRIORITY ONE “ !!!!!! |
